Carving Pumpkins

So, we finally got our pumpkins carved last night for Family Night. The kids had a good time. We can't wait until tomorrow!

Kids say the darndest things!

Since Rohne is still learning to talk, Taylee usually does most of the talking. She does enjoy conversing with him though, and they are pretty funny sometimes. Today was a typical day driving home from Target. I had turned the Disney CD down a little so I could listen to a voicemail. This is what I heard from the backseat.

Taylee: "Rohne, ya like my boobs?"
Rohne: (nothing)
Taylee: (even louder) "Hey Rohne, ya like my boobs?"
Rohne: "Uh huh, boobs!"
Not thinking that I had heard her right, I didn't intercede yet. I mean, come on, I didn't teach her that language! I waited until a stoplight and then turned around.
Taylee: (practically screaming, and really shaking her thang)
"Rohne, look at my MOOBS!"
Then it hit me. She was dancing, and saying MOVES. Thank goodness. Silly princess.

Fun Activity

Lately I have been having a hard time trying to keep my kids busy. It's freezing outside, so most of our activities have to be inside. They are both really into coloring and painting right now. So, I bought finger paints yesterday. I was so worried about the mess, but I just bucked up, and let them go. It kept them occupied for at least an hour. One whole hour with no fighting over toys or screaming, what a success!!






And Rohne only stuck his fingers in his mouth once! Thank goodness most art supplies are non-toxic nowadays.

Pumpkin Princess

Saturday we took the kids to the pumpkin patch. Because we are in Seattle, of course it has been raining for days and days. Instead of waiting for it to clear up, we decided it was now or never. The good thing about the dreary weather was that it wasn't too busy. The downfall was the mud. Ooooohhhhh, the mud!!! I strapped on the kids's rain boots, put on their winter coats, and they really had a blast. Granted, we were covered from head to toe by the end of the day, but it was worth it. The pumpkin prices were pretty steep, and we only had a little bit of cash, so we just got two pumpkins. But, that's one for each kid, I guess. We're planning on carving them sometime this week.

My parents were able to come for a short visit this week. They arrived Monday afternoon, and left Tuesday afternoon. My dad had some business meetings in Courde'Lane, ID and they drove up here before they started. It was so great to have them come. We didn't do much, but the kids loved having Grandma Honey and Grandpa Hamblin around. Tay made us all cry when she begged them not to leave. I hadn't seen my parents since May. It is just too long to go between visits. I miss them so much!! We are planning a visit up to Montana for Christmas. Hopefully it works out.

Broken Heart

Yesterday my heart was broken. No, shattered. . . by a 3 year old.

Nap time has been a struggle for Taylee lately. She never wants to take one, but still really needs one. If she misses it, she is unbearable by the end of the day, and isn't sleeping well at night. Anyways, she constantly gets out of bed, and, if she does stay in bed, she plays in her bed. After the 10th time of returning her to her bed, I told her that I would shut the door the next time she got out of bed. She can open the door herself, but absolutely hates it closed. By the way, this is not a new threat. It has actually worked in the past. After about 3 more times of getting up, I finally closed the door, then I stood there so she could not come out. Of course, she threw quite the fit, crying, screaming, the whole bit. It probably went on only like a minute and a half before I went into to talk to her. When I opened the door, between sobs she shouted at me: "You're a mean Mom!" That is how she broke my heart, in fact, I still tear up thinking about it now. Has it started already? She's only 3!!!

His One True Love

As you may have noticed from my previous postings, Rohne is most comfortable with his pacifier in his mouth. I have not made it a big issue thus far, because it also helps keep me sane. His "Haci", as he so lovingly calls it, heals everything. Today he found 4 of the 25 we probably have around here somewhere, and was so proud of himself. I thought it a blog worthy moment. Plus, I could use mom to mom advice on how to start distancing himself from his "one true love."

Sick Baby, Stressed Mommy

All seemed calm in the Klein household. In fact, I was just thinking how great it was that my kids hadn't been really sick in awhile. Anyone who knows Rohne, and his history, knows that is quite a blessing. Yes, I was flying high, until our little buddy started crying, and throwing fits unnecessarily yesterday evening. I picked him up, and he felt a little hot, but not too bad. I didn't panick yet, and his temp. was only 100. So, I put him to bed without medication, and tried to ignore it, hoping it would go away. By midnight, I heard him crying out for me saying "Hot, owie, Hot." And, boy, was he right! I picked up the little fireball, and took his temperature. It was 104.9!! Not a good sight for a mom to see. I kind of freaked, stripped off his clothes, administered the ibuprofen, turned on the fan, and held him. He was so uncomfortable he kept twitching, and wouldn't close his eyes. So, I just held him. Much to my relief, his fever finally broke around 2:00 am, but then came back again at 4:30 a.m. (I was laying on the floor in his room when I wasn't holding him.) I gave him Tylenol this time, and he kind of went to sleep again until this morning. I am such a panicker, and had to refrain myself from calling the on-call Hematologist in the middle of the night. Knowing it would do no good, I waited until the morning when Rohne's Doctor was in. We were quite lucky because he only works at the Children's Hospital Tuesdays and Thursdays. Anyways, after a brief run down with him, he thought it best that we come in, and get him checked out, and check his white blood count. I was fully ready to spend the night in the hospital, because that's what they have always done in the past with him. And, I so didn't want to. I said a little prayer, and we headed out. By the time we got to the hospital, Rohne was acting a little perkier, and was really nice to all the lab people, nurses, and doctors. His blood count was 1500, and the Dr. said it was probably just a bug he had to work through. It's hard for me to fathom that he can get over things like a normal kid, because he never has been able to before. Thank goodness for modern medicine! We give him shots now that boost his immunity, and allow this to happen. Anyway, we spent most of the day in the hospital, but came home safe and sound. I am stressed, but relieved to know we have such a great hospital nearby, and a Heavenly Father who looks out for us. Hopefully Rohne will sleep tonight, so I can too.

Fun-filled Saturday

I took the kids to the Issaquah Salmon Days Parade Saturday morning while Jake played Flag Football. I was feeling little hesitant because it has been raining, and freezing cold here for days. But the kids have been getting pretty stir crazy, and I thought it would be good for them. Monique ended up bringing Samantha and Parker, and Grandpa and Grandma Nana came to watch too. The kids really liked it, and it only rained sporatically. While searching for winter clothes I found out that Rohne didn't have a sufficient, warm coat, so I went shopping for one when the kids were asleep. Then, we had a birthday party for Jake's little sis, Jessie that night. It was a fun day. Don't worry Dad, we recorded Conference, and will watch it all day Sunday!


Jessie was in good spirits even though she turned 25! If anyone knows of any nice, eligible, over 25 boys, let us know!

Evening with the Close's

Ever since Jake and I moved here to Washington, we have been trying to get our friends and family up here too. All those who know Jake also know that he can be very persuasive. Mainly because he never lets up! Well, one of our friends actually took the bait and moved up here a couple months ago. Clark has been one of Jake's best friends since they met at Ricks their Freshman year. They were roommates after their mission too, and when Jake and I were dating, I remember actually competing with Clark for Jake's attention. Thank goodness Clark and his wonderful wife, Lisa, got married 3 weeks after us, so Jake didn't have to choose any more. Clark works in Enumclaw as a City Planner, while Lisa works at a Dental office. Constance is their vivacious 4 year old, and they are having a baby boy due Nov. 17th. We try to get together as often as we can. It has been nice to have a couple we can hang out with that feels like family. We went to their apartment Friday night. While Jake and Clark played Halo 3, the moms watched the kids (like always). One of these days, the girls will be out playing something while the boys do the watching. But, it was a great night filled with shopping, pizza, and fun.We didn't get home until about 11:00 pm, but the kids were so wound up you wouldn't have even noticed. So. . . if anyone else wants to move up here, this is what you have in store!!

Consuming my time lately

These 3 books have been consuming my time, and my life, as of lately. I truly haven't read a series in a long time (Harry Potter included) that have been page turners as much as these. I feel like I am addicted! I cannot put them down! Those of you who have heard of them, they are written by Stephenie Meyer. A BYU Graduate, and mother of 3. They are also set in the Pacific Northwest, by Seattle. This is what enticed me to them. But, they are wonderful! I feel like a teenage girl reading them, whom her audience is based. They are so romantic to the point of being overly sappy. But, once I gave into the sappiness, I revel in it now. The only thing that's bad, is that once I get out the book world, and look around me, I kind of expect it to be the same. Jake and I are nothing like the characters in the book, but I somehow think that we should be! Emily, it is FANTASY! NOT REAL!!! Anyways, I am hurriedly trying to finish the third book, so I can get on with my life. But. . . if you want to read a scarey, romantic, feel like a kid again book, these will work! I highly recommend them. In fact, I can't wait for the fourth!

Birthdays, Birthdays

Taylee's best friend, and cousin, Samantha, finally turned 3 last weekend. She was one of the last of her friends, so she was quite ready for it to be her turn. It can be hard for 3 year olds to keep going to parties, and not having one themselves! Jake's Dad's birthday was the day before, so we celebrated both. It was fun. Now it's Aunt Jessi's turn this Saturday, mine in October, and Rohne's right around the corner in November. Birthdays, Birthdays, Birthdays!
