Taking a Break

So, Jake is taking in our computer in to get fixed today, and we probably won't have it for a couple weeks, at the least. I don't know how I will live without this modern convenience, but I will try. See you all later, for now!

Weekend Recap

I wish I could say what an eventful, and wonderful weekend it has been for us, but I can't. It made me so mad, because it snowed the whole time. We woke up Sunday morning to probably 3 inches. It melted pretty quickly, but come on! It's supposed to be Spring! I also wish I could say that I got the many things accomplished I wanted to, but , once again, no way. The laundry is still loudly calling my name, along with a great many other things. Jake has worked hard at cleaning the basement out, and trying to make it into a real Rec. Room. My sister, Whitney, may come and live with us this summer, and we need to clean out the upstairs bedroom so she has somewhere to sleep. After all this work, she better come, or else!! We got a free couch off of Craig's List that Jake is really proud of, and he moved our bedroom TV down there. The kids love hanging out with him while he does all the work, and it has been good to just have a couple days to kind of relax.

Today while we were driving into the church parking lot, Rohne kept yelling, "No church! No church!" I just thought, "Oh no, has it started already?" And, sure enough, he was terrible during Sacrament Meeting, and refused to go to Nursery. He has never been an avid nursery lover, and I hate to let him cry, so Jake just took him home. On another note, the Primary President called me last night to inform me that they were splitting up Taylee's class, and she would be getting a new teacher. Up to this point, they had the Sunbeams, and CTR 5's joined together. She absolutely loves her teacher, though, and her best friend, Callan, is actually in the other class. I calmly told Sister Smith that it would be okay, and she would adjust fine, and then I got off the phone, and cried. Actually sobbed. I don't know why it affected me so much, but it did. Today, I told her old teacher how much I appreciated her, and how attached we had become to her. And then, I cried again. Taylee handled it really well. She was just really confused at first. I know that all things that happen in the church come from inspiration, and I'm so glad that there are worthy leaders, who are so close to the spirit. Anways, enough of my rantings. Everyone please pray for sunshine, and no darn snow!!!!

This is just a little glimpse before the big dumping.

Trying to Master a new skill

While we were cleaning out boxes downstairs yesterday (Yes, trying to make room for you, Whit!) we found this jump rope. Jake was very proud of showing off how good he was at jumping, and the kids decided they needed to do it too. It kept them occupied for quite some time, which was a good thing. Oh, how the housework suffers when Mommy is under the weather! So much to do!!!

Like Father, Like Son

We bought Rohne this little shaving kit for Christmas, because he loves to shave when his Daddy shaves in the morning. I think it is too cute!!

Hopefully he won't be shaving all the way up there when he gets older!

In the Still of the Night

Yes, it is 1:19 a.m., and here I sit. Not by choice. I somehow picked up a fierce cold. And, it has taken me over with a vengeance. My head is pounding, my throat stings, my nose is throbbing, my chest and limbs ache. I reached out for anything, something to help me sleep, and ease the pain. So. . . Antihistamine! In the form of Tylenol Cold Nighttime. It seems to work magic for my kids when they get sick. One teaspoon, and they are usually out for the count until morning. I have known since I was a young woman, that it didn't work this way for me, but I wanted something. I yearned for something. What a foolish mistake! My heart is pounding like a drum, and I can feel the blood pulsing through my veins like lightening. Oh, how I dread the morning!

Easter Weekend

We had a fun Easter weekend. We dyed Easter eggs on Friday afternoon. It's funny that everybody uses plastic eggs now a days, so I almost didn't see a reason to do this. We only did like 8 eggs, but the kids had a blast. I have a hard time eating the colored eggs, so they are still sitting in my fridge. I'll throw them out in the garbage tomorrow I guess.

Saturday morning we were invited to a community Egg Hunt in Jer and Mo's new neighborhood. My kids were a little shy, and got out-hunted by everyone else, but they were completely satisfied with their 2 or 3 eggs. It was a beautiful day, so we hid a few eggs outside of our house later that day too. Then, we went swimming at our health club because Grandma Nanna gave Tay a new swimsuit she just had to try out.

By Sunday, it was raining really hard, so we hid a few eggs in the kid's rooms Sunday morning, and they found them before we got ready for church. We have now done this numerous times today. Taylee felt like a princess in her new dress, and got to sing in church for the first time with the primary kids. Well, she didn't actually sing. She stood there in the front, and glared at the big kids behind her. She told me that she had to quit singing, because they were just too loud! It was cute to see her. I was actually surprised that she wasn't too scared to go up in front of everyone. After church, we went to Jake's parents' house to spend the day. We did another Easter egg hunt, they got more candy, and we all got sick to our tummies. They didn't have naps, of course, so I was very glad to be home that night. I hope you enjoy the slide show!

What a Brother

I know, I'm a little video crazy right now. I just wanted you to see a very mild version of what I put up with most of the day. Rohne hits Taylee, she fake cries, and usually screams, until he says sorry, and gives her a kiss. Again, this is very mild. I have not captured on film the entire craziness. Why do kids fight? I swear, that's all they do every day. I do know they grow out of it eventually, but they sure know how to get on Mommy's nerves.

One of My Goals

So, I was talking to my sister, Holly, on the phone today. We were both commenting on how some people take really good photos, and wishing we could become photographers ourselves. So, I read a tiny bit about our camera, (Wishing it had black and white/sepia setting, but it doesn't. It's only 3 years old, you'd think it would still be modern, gosh!) and decided I would try out my new skills. I was actually quite proud that I got some really pretty ones of Taylee picking flowers outside. I'm going to keep trying. I am so far from even being great, so don't expect a big change. But. . . here are the fruits of my labor.

See, wouldn't this one be great in black and white?

The area around our house is so green, and lush. I can't wait for all the trees and flowers to start blooming soon.

She's got kind of a silly face, but it's almost good.

This is not to show off my skills, just to show what is now my son's favorite thing to do. He pulls this wagon around everywhere outside. He loves to pull Taylee, but she won't always do it. He actually pulled me yesterday! What a brute.

Back by Popular Demand. . .

I know, I have one of the cutest kids ever! He has some great genes, that boy!

I DON'T KNOW WHY THE SCREEN LOOKS BLACK. THIS IS ROHNE SINGING, JUST CLICK ON IT, AND IT WILL WORK!!

Back By Popular Demand. . .

She has a bit of a cold, so maybe not her best performance to date. Plus, she is a little preoccupied with the bracelet on her arm.

BIG ANIMALS

Taylee got these big stuffed animals when she was a baby, and I haven't brought them out in awhile. They take up so much room, so it's hard to find a spot to keep them. I got them out today, and the kids had a blast playing with them. Don't we just love new toys?

I actually captured Taylee in an action shot. Every time I try to take her picture lately, she wants to jump into the air. I don't know why.

Reminiscing. . .

I sing a song to Rohne every night before he goes to bed, and the one he insists on now, is "Catch a Falling Star." It's a song we would always sing when we were kids, and a favorite of our family. I'm sure Holly remembers our first beauty pageant when Ben sang that song while we walked onto the stage in our fancy dresses. Natali was just a baby, and walked holding onto Holly's hand. I felt like such a princess, and didn't want that night to end. I love that memory, and hope that I am making a memory of that song with my own kids. Every time I get done singing it, Rohne says "Good song, Mommy. Thank you. I love you." I walk out of his dark room feeling like a Queen, and can't wait for the next day to start.

Whatever

There really is absolutely nothing going on in our lives right now. So, there is nothing fun or new to report, or to post about. I wish there was. Here are a few pictures I've taken recently of the kids, just because I know that my family likes to see them.

Their new passion is painting. They would really do this all day long if I let them. It makes an awful mess, but they love it. I got some of those aquadoodle things, when you paint with water, but they weren't buying it. They want the real deal!

They always look so cute after they've had their baths, and are in their pajamas. Jake has big test to take tomorrow, so he's been gone late this week, and I put the kids down by myself tonight. AND, gave Rohne his shot all by myself. He is getting so big and strong that it's hard to hold him alone. I felt bad, but I just had to sneak up on him, and he hardly knew I did it. Pretty sneaky!!

As a Precaution. . .

Just so you all know, I preceded to take my last name, and other specifics off my blog. I don't really want to set it to private, and I have been hearing wacky stories lately. This has been a great way for me to keep in contact with friends and loved ones, but any time you put something on the internet, it can be risky. Anywho. . . .

Go Mariners!!

Boy, do we love our Seattle sports! Jake took these videos of the kids a few days ago, and I am just figuring out how to put them on the blog. Taylee is our budding Mariners cheerleader, while Rohne is still mourning the Seahawks poor football season. Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to rotate Rohne's picture. We'll know from now on not to tape it like that. Enjoy our first video! I think Tay is a future star, don't you?

We can't wait for Baseball Season! Taylee already has the outfit to be a cheerleader!

I know everyone's gotta be sick of seeing the ugly exercise picture of me. Sorry, but I have nothing to say. We are boring as ever here. Here's a picture just to break it up.

Our own Pilates Class

So, I have officially jumped back on the work-out bandwagon. After a too long break, and some extra "poundage," I decided it was about time. Starting again has not been fun. I can't believe that I let myself get so out of shape. Needless to say, I went running this morning, and came back to do a Pilates DVD (BIG advocate, by the way). The kids thought it was a great family activity, and jumped right in, princess dress and all. It was hard for me to focus, but they were too cute.

Wow, Mom, who thought working out could be so much fun?

I guess they're still building those delicate stomach muscles.

They were done after about 3 minutes, and it made them so hungry! Cereal for Rohne, and crackers for Taylee. Carbs, Carbs, Carbs. Gotta gear up for the next one!

I thought it was so silly that Jake set the cereal bowl on Rohne's diaper. Who needs a kitchen table?

Blue Legs

I went to Step Aerobics the other night, and came home to a beautiful sight. My kids were bathed, in their pajamas, and ready for bedtime stories. My husband does a wonderful job playing with the kids, but sometimes leaves the bathing and dressing up to me, so I was pleasantly surprised. Come to find out, Taylee had colored her legs blue with a marker, and she was very excited to tell me that the bath water turned blue, just like the lake! Mischief Maker. . . thank goodness for washable!
